Abstract:
Long-term observations of atmospheric black carbon (BC) mass concentrations were aimed using a continuous soot-monitoring system (COSMOS) at Spasskaya Pad station, near Yakutsk in East Siberia, Russia. We aim to evaluate atmospheric chemical transport models and chemistry-climate models used for IPCC assessment reports and to provide information on wet removal rate constraints and the emission strengths of important sources (nearby boreal forest fires and Asia, after long-range transport).
